Monkey see, monkey do?!

This morning I woke up by a monkey on my roof. He was really loud!
There are a lot of monkeys around here and if it's not goats or donkeys you have to watch out for on the road, it's the monkeys! They are really cute though!

I have now finally moved out of the hotel and I am currently living with Trevor and Christina in their 2 bedroom house they are renting. I also have a rental car which gives me freedom to do what I want, when I want! I have bought a car in Japan (not sure if I checked the box "without radioactivity"). It's a red Mitsubishi Pajero iO. Hopefully it arrives at the end of April (it takes a month to ship it).
Oh, and by the way, I am now driving on the wrong side of the road! Left side and the steering wheel is on the right side.. Really backwards when you try to turn on the blinkers and the windshield wipers starts! But I'm getting there!

Red Danger!
Today I also got my work permit processed and my passport stamped, so now I can take the "residence line" at the airport! Not that it really matters, but I like the thought! The process was very painless, but there was a lot of standing around waiting.

Cheers my friends!

Work has been busy and getting up at 5am takes at toll on me as I have been in bed (most of the time passed out too) by 8:30pm! My feet are also filled with blisters as I can not wear flip flops at work (I think they should consider that! LOL) But it's been fun and I am enjoying it so far! This week I will be doing the evening shift which I'm looking forward to!

I'm still living in the hotel as the owner of the apartment I wanted decided last minute that he was not going to rent it out monthly. He thinks he will get more money through out the year by renting it weekly to tourists. Well, good luck to you! Have heard though that I might be better off not renting from this guy.

So now I'm back house hunting and I just don't know what I want... There are 2 other apartments I saw in the beginning, but I'm not 100% sure.. But I need to get out of the hotel! I love staying in hotels, but staying in the one you work makes you feel like you work 24h a day!

Not much else to report at the moment!

Cheers my friends!

Back to reality!

The Caribbean has not changed since I was here last (which I didn't expect, but still!), and I really need to get in to the island speed again!

I have now started working at the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis, and my team in room service seem to be a hard working team, which is great! Sunday was a crazy day as we had plenty of arrivals and amenities to deliver, but with a great team it was done! After some 12 hours work with no breakfast nor lunch, I finally stumbled home (my feet were so sore! I have had flip flops for too long! Not used to the high heels anymore, but don't worry... It will happen!)

Monday was my day off for this week! Had lunch at Banana with Christina (the relocation manager) and a new manager up in housekeeping named Carlos. Food was expensive and the waitress was terrible! I will give it a new try, for dinner, another time!

It's going to be a long week for me with all these 6am shifts as I'm not used to get up this early!

Reality check for the wee little Swede!

Cheers my friends!

My introduction week has come to an end and tomorrow, Sunday, reality will hit hard when I have to be at work at 6 am! =)

On Thursday night I was picked up by some staff to go to Double Deuce for dinner and entertainment (Thursday nights are Karaoke night)!! One of the Sous Chefs was celebrating his birthday and a bunch of people from the hotel showed up.

After the Karaoke was done (thank God!) the Executive Chef and the Asst. Dir. of F&B pulled out their DJ skills and the party was on.

Yesterday I had appointments all day with the Executive team and today I'm having the day off! Maybe I head for the Reflection Pool a little later!

Update

Today was the bank and the doctor on the schedule!

The doctor asked his questions, checked the blood pressure etc, and then he asked where I was from... Sweden, I said and he followed up asking if we had the Euro in Sweden... Odd questions I thought at the doctor's office, but I guess you need something to talk about.

When I told him we still had the Swedish Kronor, he dived behind the desk and whipped out a huge booklet with money (bills) from different countries. Then he found the Swedish money and asked if I had any bills that were not there!

Tomorrow I have meetings scheduled all day with the executive team! Will be fun!

Anyway, I finally have a few pictures to show!

House Hunting

Today I have been all over the island (well, at least that's how it felt like) to look at some apartments.

The first two I looked at was way up in the mountain side. Both were down stairs units and in the first one I had an 70 year old woman living upstairs. Nice place (newly built) but furnishing not so great. Second one was also bran new built, great new kitchen, but the lady living in the house said she would mostly be in the states. Both I felt was maybe a little bit too isolated!

Next was a very cute little Ikea-ish place with double doors both in living room/kitchen and bedroom, out to a terrace with a wonderful view of the ocean and St. Kitts. Definitely my type of decor! Close to the hotel as well!

Then we went to see another one which was slightly scary... Very island-ish! Isolated as well. Then we headed for an "apartment complex" where the guy over promise and under deliver. Nice place, very American kind of look. It was a 2 bedroom apartment, so it could be good if someone comes to visit! (Who's coming?!). After this one I saw a very scary one... The house was not even finished. It was more or less still a concrete splash, and it was very small...

Still waiting for one more apartment (waiting to hear if the guy living there is actually moving out or not) and I hope I can see it very soon!

Interesting day! Tomorrow I'm heading towards the bank to open an account, and then I will head for the doctors office to give some blood and make sure I'm healthy (like all the tests and doctor's visits I had to do prior to arriving were not enough!). I might have caugh something on the plane over here!

Cheers my friends!
